She has been doing this alone for months. Every week. Since the day her husband passed away. She pauses. Wipes the sweat from her face. Keeps going. A l andscaping truck rolls slowly down the street. The crew sees her. The truck stops. No body asked them. Nobody had to. I n minutes, the whole yard was transformed. She reached into her pocket. Tried to pay them. He shook his head. Smiled. And walked away. She stood there in her perfectly kept yard. And wept. Not because she was sad. Because after months of struggling alone — somebody finally saw her.
