What if I told you that old computer sitting in your closet could become your own private version of Netflix? And once it's set up, you can stream your movies, TV shows, and videos to your phone, tablet, smart TV, or laptop from anywhere in your house. Here's how. First, grab an old computer. It doesn't need to be powerful. Even a 10-year-old PC can work. Next, download and install a free operating system like Ubuntu Server or TrueNAS Scale. Once installed, download a free application called Plex. Plex turns your computer into a media server. Now create folders for Movies, TV Shows, Music, and Home Videos. Copy your media into those folders. Open Plex and tell it where your media is stored. Plex will automatically organize everything, download artwork, descriptions, episode information, and make it look like a professional streaming service. Next, install the Plex app on your phone, smart TV, tablet, or other devices. Sign in and instantly stream your content anywhere on your network. You can even access your media while traveling if you enable remote access. Projects like this teach real-world skills including networking, Linux administration, storage management, server configuration, and troubleshooting. That's exactly why we built Frost Hacking Academy. Inside Frost Hacking Academy you'll find over 100 hands-on training rooms covering networking, Linux, WiFi security, cybersecurity concepts, network defense, and much more. We're live on Kickstarter right now and Kickstarter supporters can secure exclusive lifetime access before the campaign ends. Train like a hacker. Think like a defender.
