He survived two atomic bombs. Not one — two. August 6th, 1945. Yamaguchi forgot his travel permit and stepped off the tram. The first atomic bomb detonated two miles away — and the sky turned white. Bandaged and burned, he boarded a train home — to Nagasaki. Three days later, mid-sentence in his Nagasaki office — the second bomb dropped. He crawled out alive. He lived to ninety-three. Some people are just built for the impossible.
