He did everything right his entire life. But when he finally met Jesus, he walked away completely broken. He wasn’t a villain. He wasn’t a hypocrite. He came with genuine desperation, falling to his knees in the dirt. "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" he asked. The text says Jesus looked at him... and loved him. Jesus didn't give him a riddle. He gave him the exact answer he begged for. "Sell everything you have. Then come, follow me." And right there, the man's face fell. He loved Jesus enough to ask the question... ...but not enough to stay for the answer. Because the cost was just too personal. And here is the most terrifying part of the story.
