Brainrot video is a genre of absurdist, hyper-stimulating short-form content — surreal AI characters, chaotic scenarios, and meme logic — designed for maximum watch-through and shares. The name is self-aware internet slang. The genre took off in 2025–2026 as AI generation made surreal visuals cheap to produce.
The genre's signature is committed absurdity: talking fruit with dramatic backstories, impossible physics played straight, characters who take ridiculous premises completely seriously. The comedy comes from the contrast between cinematic production and nonsense content.
